| Miss Modular Miss Sixty (Fashion Wire Daily) September 7, 2007 22:07:00 Fashion Wire Daily - Miss Sixtys creative director Wichey Hasson cited Warhols 1966 film "Chelsea Girls as inspiration, specifically the dual structure of the film - its meant to be viewed on two screens. The claim was that like the film, Miss Sixty is iconoclastic yet glamorous, reflecting a duality in spirit just like the literal duality of the film.

Chanel.
What do these two names have in common? They both went to rehab in spring 2007.
Behold Emma Watson, 17, crisp of Harry Potter stardom at the movies U.S. premiere in July. Cute girl, pretty smile, lots of pills on dress. Hmmm, one of these things is not like the others. And shes not alone: Both Natalie Imbruglia, who formerly suffered from depression, and Fergie, who was formerly addicted to crystal meth, have worn similar versions of the offbeat dress less than two weeks apart.
But then again, Hollywood glam has always been intertwined with excess -- one that almost-always seems to involve bottles of something (and any viewer of E!s "True Hollywood Story" can attest). I just dont know if medication should be worn like so. In a world where Nicole Ritchie and Kate Moss are revered as style icons, it almost seems natural for a fashion line to follow suit.
whats this?

| With Love, Mimi September 7, 2007 14:22:00 Tarun TahilianiHi fashionistas, Happy Fashion Week. The tents are up in Bryant Park and also in Delhi. I hate to say this, but India fashion week just confuses and disappoints me. Ill be honest. At first the hoopla of it all was so exciting. The whole fashion scene was becoming in India. No one paid attention (or wanted to pay attention) to the clothes back then because of the star studded front rows and the glitzy after parties. But now, with international buyers, editors and creative directors attending these events and taking note the world is starting to realize that its just not that fabulous. Yet. Okay so Ill give credit to a few Indian designers who really know what theyre doing. Designers you should take note of include Tarun Tahiliani, Malini Rawani and Manish Arora. Manish who you already know from the London runways will be showing in Paris starting next Spring I believe. In any case Ill tell you why I just adore these designers. Its because theyve actually mastered the art of taking rich Indian heritage and incorporating it into a wearable garment that is both functional and ascetically pleasing. This confuses me -Tahiliani Show I feel as if the younger and less experienced designers are trying way too hard to be "westernized." I know for a fact that although India didnt have many fashion movements in the past its the right time to take a stand and get innovative. Oh and also a touch of inspiration would help as well.

| Feet First... As they Say... September 7, 2007 11:33:00
With the monotony of big brand product placement, hype and advertising, Ive recently begun to turn to lesser known designers and their incredibly innovative ideas and schemes for inspiration lately, one designer I was referred to just recently being Monica at Gigifavela.com, an online gallery and store full of wonderful and exciting designs, in the most indulgent of accessories..... The shoe.. Whos general inspiration ranges between the world of fashion, traveling and cultural styles worldwide all without detracting from the comfort factor in any way. I recently exchanged information with her on her approach to design and philosophy for creating an integral part to any womans wardrobe.. Heres what she had to say on the subject,
On Trends "My fashion radar has historically worked 2 years to 18 months in advance of current trends..."
On her design Philosophy "Design-wise, I have to balance out the fashion forward styles with "classics" that will appeal to a broader audience...."
On material and Color selections "Materials also play a big part in my collections. I go to Italy with a sketch of the shoe and a color scheme in mind, but sometimes a leather will be so luscious and I wont have the right shoe to put it on, so I will create a shoe for it. At the end of the day, there are only so many cuts that you can put on a shoe--its all been done before. So what differentiates the shoe is the materials used and having the perfect last (shoe) shape and heel shapes. "
One Shoe that Caught my eye not only because of its bold color, but its daring and creative design is pictured above and is aptly titled the Sonya blue punkie. As a very gracious perk from the designer herself she has extended a 40% discount on the Sonya blue punkie to all Hautemimi.com readers by entering the code HAUTEMIMI40 - offer valid through September 15. Visit Gigifavela.com for more information. - [Read more] |
| L.A.M.B.: Stefanis House of Fun (Fashion Wire Daily) September 6, 2007 22:11:00 Fashion Wire Daily - Music references are common on the runway, and of course by now we are used to seeing Pete Doherty dopplegangers in porkpie hats running amuck in dirty clubs, thanks to Hedi Slimanes influence at Dior Homme.

| Isaac Mizrahi Spring 2008 Couture September 6, 2007 19:55:02Its no secret around here--I love Isaac Mizrahi. I could not wait to see what he had in store for Spring 2008 and today that day finally arrived! Isaacs Spring 2008 Couture line of clothing is an amazing mix of Spanish flair that is independent and strong willed, as well as, feminine, soft pieces that can bring out the ladylike side of even the toughest tomboys. I have not peaked, its only going to get better..." Isaac Mizrahi Im no longer trying to find myself; Im making the clothes that I love." Isaac Mizrahi The color schemes that he is known for always remains present in each piece--white, black, a splash of red, pastel colors of varying shades and degrees. The fabrics of each dress determine the way in which it is perceived--soft and flowing yet powerful and dominant. The pictures do not do the clothing justice. You really have to watch the video to see the depth and intricacy of the beading and sequin work, how a certain dress conforms to the models figure, the delicateness of the fabric on another and the brightness of color. For example, the pink "Rock Candy" mini dress pictured above is comprised of sequins and beads that sparkle and catch the light, making this dress look spectacular. They challenge the wearer to create new contexts for herself." Isaac Mizrahi Not only does the Spring 2008 Couture line look amazing, but I feel like Isaacs personality is somehow embedded into each look--flirty, fun, creative, inspiring and adored. Isaac Mizrahis Couture clothing can be found at Bergdorf Goodman. See all that Isaac has to offer on his website: IsaacMizrahiNY.com - [Read more] |
